Qastina is a forcibly displaced village, located north- South of Gaza city. The dress was made from white linen - Beige, which is considered to be uncommon to make light dresses in that area. The dress has long rectangular sleeves, and a wide dress cut, rectangular shape chest- panel embroidery. The sides of the front panel are embroidered with a thin line of cross stitch up-down old man. The Jerusalem mountains motif in cross-stitch was embroidered along the sleeves. The side panels of the thobe contain cross stitch embroidery of Cypress trees and necklace motifs from the bottom-up and in the middle a separation between the two triangular shapes embroidered with a cushion motif, in the same embroidery way of other Gaza villages and cities. Small recent triangular silk fabric pieces were cut and sewn along the hem, and around the sleeves as a decoration.
The same design needs 5 weeks to be completed.
Hand-embroidery is made by our Saru fashion team in our centre at Gaza refugee camp - Jerash - Jordan.
